Howdy, I just found this site, what an intriguing forum.
I am Mark Neumann, Lego Mecha head, Occassional Spacer, ABS addict, and Lego Cycle 3 Ambassador.
http://www.mechahub.com/index.php?option=com_gallery2&Itemid=35&g2_itemId=7311 (builders->M-N->Mark Neumann)
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=ravenswolfmk

Might I recommend checking out www.mechahub.com for all your LEGO Mecha needs? Also, you can oftne find many of the builders (like Soren Robers, the guy who did the Fujikoma you like so much) in the #mecha IRC chat accessable through the site. If y ou find yourself there, I'm the one called "SnowLeopardOne"

Also, I am not sure about your familiarity with Brickfest, coming up in Aug. Or NWBrickcon, coming up in Oct.
http://www.brickfest.com/
http://www.nwbrickcon.org/
There are subforums for both of these on Lugnet of course.

Well, anyway, nice to be here.

Okay, who's been there? I'm happy to say I've been to the big one in Denmark, which was super extra cool. It's hard to imagine a structure made of several million Legos, and the sheer size and detail that is possible. The two I remember most distinctly were 1) a scale model of the Legoland International Airport, complete with terminals, planes, moving luggage carts, etc., and 2) a model of the Berlin Cathedral, which was bombed out in World War Two and left standing in its damaged state, faithfully reproduced with our favorite plastic bricks. I found a couple of pictures online:

The airport:
http://www.geocities.com/travelphotos42/Denmark/Legoland_International.jpg

The cathedral:
http://www.geocities.com/travelphotos42/Denmark/Berliner_Kirche.jpg

Who else has been there, or has anyone been to the Legolands in California or Connecticut and what were those like?

Anyway, I havent been on in a while and San Diego seems Dead for lego Intrests, I Have certain interests Including Area 51 type subjects. I have now discovered that the true size of a Human vs. an SR-71 per say is um... HUGE! lol anyway i have 2 small subjects ive made and now that im starting a new one, can you say OH MY LORD? This sucker is 2.7 feet long so far and the width is guessed (cause not finished yet) at 1.4 ft. its incredible cause for lego this is pretty much how the real thing would stack up to Human=Lego guy and an SR-71. I just want to see if anyone out there shares the same intreset! Contact me if you wish^^ thanks

UK Lego Commercial - Looking for online "Mouse & Cat"

I'm looking for an online version of an old (60s-early 70s?) UK Lego commercial that I last saw on one of the "best commercials you haven't seen"/"world's best commercials" TV shows years ago.

It starts out with a Lego mouse, and then a Lego cat shows up. The mouse morphs into a dog, the cat morphs into a dragon?, and so on, to include a submarine, an anti-sub missile, and anti-sub missile-eating kipper... Eventually the cat morphs into an elephant, and the mouse morphs back into a mouse.

Just wondering if anyone has seen it recently online.

I have a Lego Mindstorms Lego set but lost the installation CD. Does anyone have a copy I can borrow/download? All the sites I've found do not give complete files to get it working. When I plug in the USB tower it asks for the installation CD regardless of the drivers I've downloaded.

Can anybody help?

I have figured out why I like Lego now, and didn't for a long while. The whole range of Jack whatsit, Racer-something-or-other, and all the specialized pieces -- I figured out why they bother me.

In Japan, there is a style of rock music called "vijuaru-kei" ("visual type") that considers their look to be as important as their music. It is, but not the way they intend; the music is crap, even though the look is intriguing.

The specialized Lego to come out of the lines from the late 90's are very similar. They're only good for their looks.

Hey people,

I do an interactive Lego exhibit called Lego Block City at Burning Man and Burning Man events. See pictures here: http://share.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=EeAuWrZuzbtGF4

This year, I'm planning to do something A LOT bigger, so I need A LOT more Legos. So, I'm seeking people who care to invest in Lego Block City.

What will your money get you? It wil get you Legos!! After they've been to Burning Man, that is. A donation of $50 will get you a box of Legos weighing about 8 lbs. This is a lot of Legos, roughly a 1 cubic/ft of pure Lego. I purchase old lots from Ebay

Your own personal Legos will go to building a HUGE city of EPIC proportions out of LEGOS. I'm currently working with Center Camp Cafe to get a prime spot in which to produce this event, possibly even the center circle of the Cafe.

Donations, can range from 1 peny to a million dollars. You decide how much Lego you want. If you have a any questions, just ask.

-Benjamin

Hey people, last year i brought my lego to Burning Man. I had a great time bringing them to Center Camp for people to play with. i was wondering if anyone else has a few boxes of Legos that they'd be willing to bring and share. I'd like to an impromtu event in Center camp with a shit load(pardon the language) of Legos. Maybe even build a HUGE castle in the middle of center camp. What do you think

Discovering the cat digging in your huge box of legos and realizing that he just peed it them.

This required all of the legos to be washed. I just put a photo of all of them in the bathtub in the album. Washing them wasn't tricky at all. Drying them took forever.

Selling the farm, brick by brick...

I can't believe I'm doing this...

But being a dotcom refugee doesn't pay very well, so I'm forced to sell of 25 years worth of Lego collection to get me by until I can find another job. I'd love it if they could go to someone who appreciates them as much as I do!

You can find a nearly complete list of the collection here:
http://www.waywardbound.com/personal/garagesale/legos/

I say "nearly complete" because only the set are listed there, and not the remaining loose bricks, extra instruction manuals, and vintage catalogs. I counted all of the standard bricks in the blue tubs and it came to 4,000, so I'm estimating the entire collection of loose pieces is around 10,000, possibly more.

So if you feel the need to increase the size of your Lego empire, or know anyone who's looking to do so, please feel free to forward the link. It is much appreciated!!
